Fund and Protect the United States Postal Service
The United States Postal Service is one of the oldest, most critical and fundamental institutions in our democracy. Enshrined in the Constitution, for more than two centuries the USPS has helped move our mail, our economy, and our nation’s potential forward.
The Postal Service delivers almost half a billion pieces of mail each day. Those deliveries are our medications, our online purchases, our letters to family and friends, our bills, the ever present book of coupons, and yes, our ballots.
The Postal Service doesn’t discriminate and its services can be counted on no matter the weather, even, and especially, in a pandemic.
USPS is an infrastructural behemoth and an employer of hundreds of thousands of Americans, including one of the biggest employers of military veterans.
So why, in the middle of a pandemic, weeks before a presidential election in which more than 50% of voters may choose to vote-by-mail, is it being set up to fail?
From budgetary lapses that threaten to bankrupt the USPS to politically motivated personnel restructuring and the removal of mail sorting machines, our nation’s 244 year-old connective tissue is in grave danger.
Tell your Senators that we must pass the Delivering for America Act to fund and protect USPS. Americans deserve to trust that their mail will be delivered, rain, shine, or politics.
